Meet the Doctors
NESSA SHEKARI, DMD
Dr. Nessa Shekari is a little woman with a lot of heart. Raised in Bethlehem, PA, she attended Temple University for both her undergraduate and Dental degrees, and has been a Philadelphia resident for 17 years. Upon completing her Temple Dental curriculum, she spent an additional year in an Oral and Maxillofacial surgery residency at Hahnemann hospital. After practicing the last 5+ years in the suburbs honing her well-rounded skill set, we’re grateful she has made the transition to practicing here in Center City.
Dr. Nessa believes in quality over quantity. Her favorite hobbies include jumping rope (which she can do for an hour straight), playing pickup basketball, crosswords, rooting for the Eagles and Sixers, cooking and, of course, eating. She wants to learn how to play the bass so she can one day be a rockstar - don’t be surprised if she sings during your dental appointment! She loves traveling, her favorite places are Amsterdam, Barcelona and Morocco. Her favorite quote is “be a flamingo in a world full of pigeons.”
Dr Nessa sees patients at Quaker City Dental Tuesday through Thursdays. She also sees patients at our sister location, Race Street Dental Care ( 212 Race St ) on Fridays.

INGRID CARVO, DMD
Dr. Ingrid Carvo graduated from the University of Rochester with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Immunology. She then earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Carvo furthered her education by pursuing a General Practice Residency at VA Boston Healthcare System, where she honed her skills in general dentistry. As a National Health Service Corps scholar, Dr. Carvo served at a Federally Qualified Community Health Center in the North Philadelphia region for four years. Upon completion of her service, Dr. Carvo joined the Quaker City Dental team and is excited to serve the greater center city community.
Dr. Carvo is fluent in Spanish. When not in the office, she enjoys traveling, painting and living on the edge by creating new dessert recipes.
